Lyme Disease, CDC 1991

Acknowledging Chronic Lyme Disease and the need for antibiotic treatment either oral or IV for CLD. Also acknowledging that it's congenital and passed to fetus and can cause stillbirth.

Lyme en lopen en ervaringen

A New Message From Smitty

You may remember Ed (Smitty) who shared with us a little while back that he had been misdiagnosed with ALS but has Lyme Disease. Ed's medical records proved he had a positive lyme test that he had not been originally made aware of. How many of us are in that same boat ? Lotte mankeert eigenlijk nooit iets. Tot het moment dat gebeten wordt door een teek. Ze krijgt de ziekte van Lyme. De behandelingen in Nederland slaan niet goed aan, Lotte is ten einde raad en laat op zich opnemen in universitair ziekenhuis in Slowakije. De behandelingen in Slowakije zijn een succes, Lotte knapt snel op. Maar blijft wel achter met hoge medische kosten, die ze niet kan betalen.

Imagine doctors being punished for helping someone to get well again ? Lyme Disease patients are unable to get proper care because there are so few doctors 'willing' to help due to fear.

Red Shoe Day

Red Shoe Day was established in memory of Australian Lyme (previously ME/CFS diagnosis) Patient, Theda Myint who left this earth on the 25th July 2013. It is envisaged that this day will become an annual remembrance day to remember not only Theda, but all those lost to Lyme and other invisible illnesses worldwide.

Red shoe day, to be held on July 25th is to remember all those we have lost to invisible illness such as Lyme, ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and the many more illnesses that are invisible. In the broad sense of the term, invisible illnesses are those that are generally "invisible", not only from the outward appearance of the person, but also seemingly invisible to appropriate research, treatment and care of the thousands of people that are living with them. Many living with these illnesses are also "invisible" to society, as their health is such that they are confined to their houses, (and many to their beds) for months, even years.

Lyme Disease Transmitted by a FLY bite : 1990

This patient was bitten by a biting fly (an act he both saw and felt) and subsequently presented with Lyme disease, with erythema migrans at the site of the bite. Serologic testing confirmed a more than fourfold rise in antibodies to B. burgdorferi.
