FDA-hearing bezig as we speak (van 14u-11u onze tijd).

over de kans dat ampligen als mogelijk medicijn voor ME wordt goedgekeurd (in dat geval waarsch. onder voorwaarden) is erg lastig te speculeren.

het rapport vd fda schijnt knetterhard te zijn en ME geen diagnostische biomarker. vooral laatste nogal probleem.
echter, ertegenover staat een comité dat bestaat uit mensen als oa prof. Komaroff, die 25 jr. ervaring heeft met ME en anderen die ook lange geschiedenis hebben en weten hoe verwoestend deze ziekte is. maar lang niet iedereen.

het comité is die het oordeel zal nemen, niet de FDA zelf. Het zal wel een close-call worden indien positief oordeel, maar zolang het in voordeel van ampligen valt, maakt dat niet uit. Maar of dat het geval zal zijn is dus de grote vraag.

Conclusion
The harsh FDA report was produced by statisticians with little knowledge of the disorder but the FDA also produced a committee with a core of members with extensive knowledge of ME/CFS. The Committee vote is the key. Will Hemispherx and the patient advocates be able to convince the committee members to overlook a harsh FDA report? We’ll see.

The vote will come at the end of the day. The committee members will be asked to vote all at once so that the members are not influenced by the others votes.

The FDA will take everything into account and release its decision on Feb 2nd. They could approve the drug outright (not likely to happen), approve it with conditions, ask for more studies or just slam the door on the drug.

Ik heb een stuk ervan zitten kijken, maar het is natuurlijk veelste lang om vol te houden. Kon door mijn brainfog het niet meer volgen en ben nu nog overprikkeld alleen al omdat ik het geprobeerd heb. Maar ik ben dus erg benieuwd wat het uiteindelijke besluit gaat zijn!

De FDA laat geen spaander heel van het ampligenonderzoek, en ze hebben ook best wel wat punten. Waarom hebben ze dat onderzoek niet wat zorgvuldiger uitgevoerd? We wachten goed, maar mijn gevoel hierover is niet echt goed.

ik heb het zelf niet gekeken, wel 5 minuten geprobeerd, maar eea was zo vol hickups in de feed dat ik gestopt ben. wel eea qua opmerkingen op phoenix rising gezien en daarmee enigszins op de hoogte.

Maar nogmaals; de committee stemt erover en beslist daarmee, niet de FDA zelf! en in het comité zitten dus zoals gezegd nogal wat personen die heel goed weten hoe het zit met ME en dat het hoognodig is dat er een medicijn komt omdat er nu helemaal niets voor is. Heb ook delen gezien, en vooral op twitter live tweets van Cort Johnson gevolgd. Lijkt toch naar alle waarschijnlijkheid niet te gaan lukken, nog te weinig solide bewijsvoering over effectiviteit, kritiek op studies, meer studies nodig.........

Op financiële sites stond afgelopen dagen dat het niet ging lukken omdat ze na vorige weigering verzuimd hebben nieuwe trials uit te voeren en in de plaats verkozen hebben te gaan goochelen met de bestaande onderzoekscijfers.

Ik heb de hearing niet gevolgd dus kan er volledig naast zitten uiteraard.

ja, weet het, helaas... en het zal ook onwijs spannend worden, omdat wel toch het belangrijkste argument zou kúnnen worden dat er niets anders voorhanden is voor ME, dat daarom uiteindelijk iets milder naar gekeken wordt. maar alles is speculeren. afgaand op onderzoek ziet het er slecht uit.

dus laten we vooral gaan van een negatieve uitslag, dan kan het alleen maar meevallen..

Kunnen ze dat onderzoek niet door Lipkin laten uitvoeren, daar heb ik nu al meer vertrouwen in.

ik vraag me af wat het kostenplaatje zou zijn als velen van ons behandeld zouden worden met Ampligen. zou de behandeling duurder zijn dan onze uitkeringen..?!

ampligen is zo'n 25.000 dollar per jaar dacht ik.. ah jij bedoelt denk ik of de kosten opwegen tegen wat de staat nu kwijt is aan ons? nou ja als je bekijkt dat meesten geen uitkering of zelfs bijstand krijgen vanwege het beleid mbt ME is het stuk goedkoper het zo te laten. Echter de socio-economische kosten in Europa mbt ME worden op 20 biljoen geraamd (2009 dacht ik) dus in die zin zou het wel degelijk de moeite waard moeten zijn.
